Backstory:Ryo was born, and has spent her entire life in Canterlot. Being the only foal in the family, huge expectations were placed on her by her father, Midnight Comet, a medical professor working in the Royal hospital. Ryo was qualified, and sent to the school for gifted unicorns at young age, but only after couple of years, she dropped out, due to her lack of interest in learning the arcane arts. While her father would have wanted to home school Ryo, her mother, Aegis, a Royal Guard, was much more lenient on young Ryo, letting the filly to enjoy her childhood, instead of letting her father to turn her into a book worm, and a "nerd" like he was. When older, Ryo began to show interest in already retired, old family friend's work, who had served his years as a blacksmith. While spending time at the small forge, Ryo discovered her peculiar, and strong ability to transmute things. Metals, wood, stone, Even gemstones. Honing this ability on her own, Ryo learned the basics of smithing from her family friend. On later years, Ryo got into trouble, when she flooded the market square of Canterlot in what was labelled as fake gold, when she wanted to prove that even without a Cutie Mark, she could still be something. She turned cart loads of coal into gold bits, momentarily collecting the amazed gazes of the bullying nobles, before she got arrested for her little trick. This incident left Ryo with a certain level of fear towards guards around the city.
By the time she turned 20, the small forge she had spend a lot of time in was sold, and Ryo suddenly had lost the thing she had liked to do the most. Their family friend was too old to maintain such a place, and was forced to sell it away. Still a blank flank, her father demanded Ryo to finally finish her already broken schooling. But Ryo had other plans. She was gonna pursue what she liked to do, one way or another.
